From someone who is a player first...I think that how a guitar sounds is the most important factor. How else do you explain the number of Martin D28s out there? It is a nice looking guitar, but still very plain when compaired to other guitars in its price point. And yet, having heard and played that guitar...well, I can only dream to achieve a sound like that in one of my guitars. Still, I wouldn't buy a guitar that was built sloppily either.

See, that's just the point--many feel that the often-overlooked Martin D18 is their best SOUNDING dred., but it's made with mahogany, so it can't be good, right?

I know I'm a heretic, but a guitar from any of the people on this forum is going to sound pretty darn good, so if I was buying, I'd have to buy the best looking one.
